Biography
Fine artist, screenwriter and director Pierre Bismuth lives and works in Brussels. His practice, characterized by an open reflection on the status of the artwork, analyzes the representation of and critical response to production by way of gestures and interventions that play on displacement, diversion and appropriation; leading to the idea that by simply manipulating the commonly held definition of things, we can change how they are perceived. Private/public sphere, art history, language, image, cinema, popular culture, identity are all themes investigated in his works since the late 1980s.
